3Q17-4Q17: What’s Coming Up?

Friday, June 30th, 2017

Screen Shot 2017-06-30 at 10.06.41 PMI cannot believe I’m about to write down what I need to get done for the rest of 2017. I still think sometimes I’m stuck back in 2011 or 2012 somewhere.

Anyway, here’s my list for the rest of 2017. Inspirational color palette to set the tone – check. Kind of a melon-y, sunflowery tone, methinks.

___________

3Q17-4Q17: Let’s Roll!

Books:

1. SWE 3 – or bust. Next new book.

2. STEMP4 – really want this to be done in time for the holidaze; let’s see if I can make that happen.

Causes:

3. HBA Indiana – continues to produce amazing programs and stuff. 3Q17 will be no exception. The big project I’m working on is #HealthCarDev on 9/29 - the first ever Unconference for the chapter. We’re going to have 18 speakers in a 1/2 day session that will rock. It’s all focused on healthcare career development. We’ll also have the inaugural #PurpleSock Awards for healthcare amazingness in Hoosierland at our awards gala in November. Read more about how to nominate your healthcare hero or shero here. Here is the nomination form – if you know someone great, nominate them.

4. ASPL

5. Shopping for a cause – since my terms with these two orgs will be up 12/31, I’m shopping right now for one cause. Not sure what it will be just yet, but I’m on the lookout, universe!

Talks & Events:

8/1/17 – #SMDames17 – Indy – talked podcasting.
9/14/17 – Indy Big Data – Indy
9/29/17 – #HealthCarDev – HBA IN – Indy – we’ll also have a super cool countdown campaign to this that will occupy some time in July & Aug.
Judge for the Reimagine Education Awards.
First week of Nov – 2 talks at ASPL – one on big data and ethical use, and one on ASPL’s first ever benchmarking survey of Ethics Profs at US Schools of Pharmacy.

Pharmacy Podcast:

Big series this fall about one of the biggest topics I am asked about as a career coach. More to come!

Life Changer:

Trip to Scotland. It was awesome. Pics at Instagram.  I think that covers the highlights, and the highlands…LOL! Slangevar!3Q2

6 Things I Love…Right Now

Saturday, June 10th, 2017

mismatchedshoesI didn’t get it done this weekend – no #6onSaturday newsletter this morning – sorry. I was buried in planning for #Manbassadors and some other HBA IN meetings this week. Dropped the ball, I did, my peeps! I hope you’ll find it in your heart to forgive me.

But, in looking around the best of the internet this week, there was a LOT of Debbie Downer news…I don’t even want to list it all here.  Instead, I’m going to fill this white space with stuff I love this week, just for you, my fab 13. Ready?

6 Things I Love, Right Now

1. Carmelo Blandino art. And, his instagram page.

2. Symplur’s Healthcare Hashtags Project - as in, loved this a long time, but just registered #HealthCarDev for HBA IN, coming in September to Indy!

3. Jar of Awesome – stared at it yesterday – need to get some more brightly colored post its and fill it up with June tiny wins.

4. Mismatched shoes – It’s a thing in New York, apparently, but I LOVE it. Often take my purple Blowfish flats and mix them with my reds, as illustrated above. And, it fits completely into my goal to become an eccentric, well-dressed crazy cat lady by the time I retire!

5. Payhip – this amazing simple to use site lets you upload PDF files and SELL them. No up front costs, no BS, no mess. They do take 5% on every sale, but so what? It’s instant downloads for the buyer! Since so many people kept asking me about the healthcare certifications tracker, I just stuck it there and now anyone can access it anytime, for the mere price of a cup of coffee.

6. 2nd grader, Lucy – a hand-written thank you note to the safety crew at IMS – for helping Scott Dixon at the Indy 500. I’m still not sure how he walked away from that crash…but Lucy and I were glad the safety team helped Scott.

There.

If you get bogged down in negative press, sometimes as I do – take on my little erin albert dot com challenge here this week, my peeps. Post stuff you love and care about on your social and blogs. Don’t give way to the negative. Next thing we know, the internet will once again be full of cat memes and unicorns – let’s get back to the awesome, shall we?

2Q17: What’s Coming Up

Friday, March 31st, 2017

Screen Shot 2017-03-21 at 7.06.15 PM2Q17 is here!

You know what that means….time for another top 10 list of items I’m focused on for the second quarter of 2017.

Here we go:

Books – More than 1 bullet here.

1. SWE3 should be done soon – the 5 year anniversary third edition of Single. Women. Entrepreneurs. If you’re a ‘trep (man or woman), please take this quick survey.

2. Last, starting to FINALLY crank on #STEMPrincess4!

3. Launching the S(He) Said Guide to Mentoring – book signings and a tour – awesome!

4. HBA Indiana – we continue to grow HBA IN with events in April, May and June – a huge signature event with Jennifer Cook of WOTY 2016 fame coming into Indy at Roche, (which was a total door buster!) followed by the start of our mentoring program kickoff on 4/27, followed by a networking event in May, and a huge manbassador panel discussion event in June for women in healthcare. HIT is still on our radar screen too.  Also, helping to set up a first ever, ‘we’ve never done this before’ type of event for HBA Indiana coming in September – hold on to your hats – this one will be wild!

5. Pharmacy Podcast – This quarter, I want to dig into informatics as a career track for pharmacists, as well as a few other arenas for pharmacist differentiation. HIMSS17 was a hit 1Q.

6. Meetings – LOVED what we did at HIMSS17 with the Pharmacy Podcast. We’re taking the Pharmacy Podcast back on the road for Cardinal Health RBC in San Antonio this summer!

7. I’ll be precepting pharmacy students again this quarter – for the following academic year – yippie! And great projects for them to work on…

8. Said yes to judging at the 2017 Reimagine Education Awards.

9. Attending #BlogHer17….this conference has been on my radar for years now – finally can make it happen.

10. Getting a year older this quarter – happy birthday to me. #Forever29.

Women IN Healthcare: What do you need to be successful?

Sunday, February 19th, 2017

Screen Shot 2017-02-17 at 7.25.01 PM

HBA Indiana is conducting a survey of educational needs of healthcare and life science employees of the state of Indiana. If you work in biotech, life sciences, healthcare, pharma, medical devices or healthcare IT, can you please take 5 minutes and complete this survey so we can better assist our healthcare and life sciences community of Indiana? You don’t have to be a member of HBA to participate – and 2 who complete the survey will win a $25 Starbucks gift card.

Caffeine and career development – what more could you ask for?

Also – if you’re seeking more info on our mentoring program from our segment on Inside Indiana Business this past weekend, here it is, just for you!

Thanks!

More GirlPower Stuff

Friday, February 3rd, 2017

Screen Shot 2017-02-03 at 7.39.48 AMAfter 2 crazy weeks, I’m happy to report that this weekend, I’ll be cooling it, and getting back to working on #SWE3.

In the meantime, here’s a roundup of some really cool stuff for women and girls that we’ve been working on or seeing over here at the ranch the last couple of weeks.

Inside Indiana Business/Biocrossroads article on 8 Great Orgs in HIT Healthcare and STEM – many of them focused on women.

The No Limits Radio show I did (or tried to do) this week on Activism.

Interview with Abdul-Hakim Shabazz and Dave Meeker on WIBC about how to manage social media in these interesting times.

Wonder Woman stamps – now available for her 75th birthday, and great for slapping on letters to your CongressMEN about your feelings around new legislation.

Also heading over to a new podcast, (at least new to me) on Get Social Health.

Oh, and WCS Yale applications for the 2017 summer session are now open.

And the ladies of HBA are rocking! Really solid crew I am working with this year.

My Top 10 List: 4Q16

Sunday, October 23rd, 2016

fall-autumn-red-seasonMy Fellow Americans and Earthlings:

First of all, I already voted.  That ought to get me some type of free blocker of all political ads until the election on my channels.

That aside, here’s some stuff I’ve been and will be working on for 4Q16.

1.  Pharmacy Listening & Reading Survey for 2017 – I can’t write and podcast unless I know what the audience wants – so behold, a place where you can give me feedback on what I should write and speak about for the pharmacy podcast and other writings for 2017.  It’s open until 10/31, and instead of not sharing the data, I am going to send an exec summary to ALL who ask for it when completing the survey, because I’m cool like that and NOT a data hoarder…

2.  SWE3 – Yup, started interviews for the 5 year anniversary, 3rd edition of Single. Women. Entrepreneurs., coming in 2017!  I can’t WAIT to hear what these amazing women have been up to over the past 5 years.

3. Indiegogo campaign for the S(He) Says Guide to Mentoring – The campaign is coming soon.  The book is arriving in 2017.  Follow the faceplace page link above for that magic.  While I’ve set up mentoring programs for women in the past, and mentored more than a big share of students, this is the first time I’m writing a book specific to mentoring, and collaborating with one of MY mentors, Dr. David Borst.

4. PowerPak article on the DQSA – is now here – yay!  This one was a couple of years in the making (kind of like the DQSA itself) – shoutout to my colleague, Dr. Angela Ockerman, for co-piloting with me on this.

5. 5 Roads of Retail Pharmacy Love – is on its way – part 1 is published, parts 2-5 coming soon! Regardless, it’s a long overdue love note to my first pharmacy gig, retail! Oh, and the fellow is on top of the new mini series over at pharmacy podcast coming on residencies vs. fellowships and prepping for Midyear.  Here’s a mini quiz you can take if you’re not sure yourself as a P4 which way you should go! (Take it in Chrome – it doesn’t play nicely with Safari, for some reason…)

6. HBA Indiana – I’m running for President. (Not POTUS.) Instead, I’m running for HBA Indiana President for 2017.  It’s time for me to get back out there and understand what’s going on in healthcare at the state and regional levels, AND help other young and mid-career women make their career marks! It also fits into the fact that I’ve been tracking women at the helm of pharmacy and healthcare companies in the US, and we’re not making enough progress.  Also, I started a Health IT company list for Indiana – why oh why no one had a list before I find baffling.  This will take me some time to develop–but hey, at least it is started!

7. Midway on the fall Masterminds – have a sign up list for spring if you’ve been shopping for a writing or pharmacy career coach!

8. ASPL - pharmacy, meet law. Law, meet pharmacy.  The two meet up at the American Society for Pharmacy Law, which will meet up in Austin, TX in a couple of weeks.  Of all the career paths I’ve studied, THIS group has the weirdest and most out of the box careers I’ve seen to date.  Got my new book out on pharmacy law in IN, and have new talks coming up this fall on pharmacy law – yay!

9. Plotting 2017 –  Now that SXSW is off the table, I’m definitely thinking about the freaky meetings I can head to in 2017.  I’m thinking podcasting, blogging, social media, self publishing and maybe a few others….we’ll see.  Regardless, it’s good to have a plan for the coming year!

10. Other – I know what you’re thinking… “Hey, Albert – where’s the #STEMPrincess4 book?”  It’s still here, it’s just cued up for 2017.  I figured I needed to get a few books ahead of it finished before I dove full time into that project. Besides, I’m still shopping for a sponsor for book 4.  I can’t blow this series into the ginormous brand it could be alone! So, if you’re reading this and want to help out with #STEMPrincess series, hit me up via twitter or social.  And until 11/15/16, we’ve got the Myers and Stauffer Pharmaceutical Pricing Fellowship and APPE rotation applications up – come work with me next year and see all the magic!!!!!

That’s all I’ve got for right now. Much love to you out there – I hope you “fall” into an amazing…autumn!
