2Q17: What’s Coming Up

Friday, March 31st, 2017

Screen Shot 2017-03-21 at 7.06.15 PM2Q17 is here!

You know what that means….time for another top 10 list of items I’m focused on for the second quarter of 2017.

Here we go:

Books – More than 1 bullet here.

1. SWE3 should be done soon – the 5 year anniversary third edition of Single. Women. Entrepreneurs. If you’re a ‘trep (man or woman), please take this quick survey.

2. Last, starting to FINALLY crank on #STEMPrincess4!

3. Launching the S(He) Said Guide to Mentoring – book signings and a tour – awesome!

4. HBA Indiana – we continue to grow HBA IN with events in April, May and June – a huge signature event with Jennifer Cook of WOTY 2016 fame coming into Indy at Roche, (which was a total door buster!) followed by the start of our mentoring program kickoff on 4/27, followed by a networking event in May, and a huge manbassador panel discussion event in June for women in healthcare. HIT is still on our radar screen too.  Also, helping to set up a first ever, ‘we’ve never done this before’ type of event for HBA Indiana coming in September – hold on to your hats – this one will be wild!

5. Pharmacy Podcast – This quarter, I want to dig into informatics as a career track for pharmacists, as well as a few other arenas for pharmacist differentiation. HIMSS17 was a hit 1Q.

6. Meetings – LOVED what we did at HIMSS17 with the Pharmacy Podcast. We’re taking the Pharmacy Podcast back on the road for Cardinal Health RBC in San Antonio this summer!

7. I’ll be precepting pharmacy students again this quarter – for the following academic year – yippie! And great projects for them to work on…

8. Said yes to judging at the 2017 Reimagine Education Awards.

9. Attending #BlogHer17….this conference has been on my radar for years now – finally can make it happen.

10. Getting a year older this quarter – happy birthday to me. #Forever29.

This Tiny Blog’s Media Kit

Saturday, January 7th, 2017

I’ve been quiet – I know. I’m over here trying to get my 2017 groove on.  But the first week was full of challenges.

Anyway, several people have asked me for a list of my services now, so I thought it was time to put together a one sheet media kit on my wares.  It is now here:

ErinAlbert.com Media Kit – 2017 from Erin L. Albert, MBA, PharmD, JD, PAHM
I’m still over here working hard to help out my fellow and lady pharmacy and healthcare career kind through various channels and by various means.  One way that I’m working on right now is the spring mastermind class, which you can query by completing this form. And this may be the only mastermind I run in 2017, because I’ve got a few books and other projects to crank out, in addition to awesome gigs and conferences to attend (like HIMSS, and SXSW this quarter).
Regardless, I love helping healthcare professionals re-think their career development.  After all, we are now working and living in an economy where the employers don’t care about your career development.  Only you have the power to make your career go vrooommmmm…..so what are you waiting for?
Let’s work together!
Happy 2017.

Top 10 Blog Posts of 2016

Sunday, December 4th, 2016

newyearAs I said over at LinkedIn, I like to pause at the end of each year, go back, and see what posts really resonated with my peeps.  I did this with LinkedIn long posts for the year, here.

Now I’m going to do it with this blog.  Here are the top 10 blog posts for 2016, based upon Google analytics for this lovely little website and corner of the universe. Ready?

10. An open letter to the Editor of Girls’ Life – All I can say here is, I hope the editor listened.

9.  Seeking one sponsor for our Amazing STEMPrincess4 Adventure – Thanks for checking this out. And yes, I still would like to have a sponsor of this 4th book in the series.  A couple of other books are in production before this one, but this one is definitely coming in 2017!

8.  Attention Crayons, Markers and Pencils – The big rollout of #STEMPrincess3, and my first-produced coloring book!

7.  Avoiding Midyear Meltdown – This week is ASHP’s Midyear.  I hope that Lauren and I helped even just a few students rock it and not let them be intimidated.

6.  STEMPrincesses and Girlpower! – Going for American Dreams at HSN and the announcement of my STEM Princess advisory board…love it!

5.  Largest pharmacy and healthcare groups on Linkedin: 2016 – I had to analyze the groups over at LI for another project, so I shared my findings.

4.  5 Roads into Loving Retail Pharmacy – So, this post was over guilt. Since I had just completed a 5 Roads out of Retail Pharmacy miniseries at Pharmacy Podcast, I wanted to do a 180 and talk about how to not only stick it out in retail, but to love it. Glad that others picked it up!

3.  Pharmacy Podcasts on Your Career Development – I decided that I needed to throw my 25 podcasts recorded in 2016 into one blog post, since PP has several co-hosts, and frankly, to make it easier to tweet.  I guess people are finding that helpful?  I don’t know, I don’t know many podcasters out there yet, nor how they optimally output their shows…but I’m hacking my way through this.

2.  M is for Multimedia: BU Well – I am so pumped that my tribe loves journals, reading and multimedia, and the fact that this post was the 2nd most popular this year is awesome!  It was my proud parental moment of rolling out the inaugural edition of the STUDENT driven multimedia healthcare journal, BU Well.

1.  An Analysis of…Bossing Me Around – The most traffic this website received this year was far and away around the time I left my teaching gig. And apparently, you all are curious about bossing me around.  As I said back in late July and even to this day, while it was not an easy decision to leave, what was easier was knowing that my work life balance was back to an even level, and it was a great 10-year run serving in academia.  Will I return to teaching, many ask? The answer is that I never left teaching – I’m still teaching as a preceptor and fellowship director – my classroom has just changed.

Thanks for stopping by my tiny digital corner of the inter webs in 2016.  Even if my work is remotely helpful, it’s been a pleasure serving you, my fab 13, in 2016, the past, and onward!

My Top 10 List: 4Q16

Sunday, October 23rd, 2016

fall-autumn-red-seasonMy Fellow Americans and Earthlings:

First of all, I already voted.  That ought to get me some type of free blocker of all political ads until the election on my channels.

That aside, here’s some stuff I’ve been and will be working on for 4Q16.

1.  Pharmacy Listening & Reading Survey for 2017 – I can’t write and podcast unless I know what the audience wants – so behold, a place where you can give me feedback on what I should write and speak about for the pharmacy podcast and other writings for 2017.  It’s open until 10/31, and instead of not sharing the data, I am going to send an exec summary to ALL who ask for it when completing the survey, because I’m cool like that and NOT a data hoarder…

2.  SWE3 – Yup, started interviews for the 5 year anniversary, 3rd edition of Single. Women. Entrepreneurs., coming in 2017!  I can’t WAIT to hear what these amazing women have been up to over the past 5 years.

3. Indiegogo campaign for the S(He) Says Guide to Mentoring – The campaign is coming soon.  The book is arriving in 2017.  Follow the faceplace page link above for that magic.  While I’ve set up mentoring programs for women in the past, and mentored more than a big share of students, this is the first time I’m writing a book specific to mentoring, and collaborating with one of MY mentors, Dr. David Borst.

4. PowerPak article on the DQSA – is now here – yay!  This one was a couple of years in the making (kind of like the DQSA itself) – shoutout to my colleague, Dr. Angela Ockerman, for co-piloting with me on this.

5. 5 Roads of Retail Pharmacy Love – is on its way – part 1 is published, parts 2-5 coming soon! Regardless, it’s a long overdue love note to my first pharmacy gig, retail! Oh, and the fellow is on top of the new mini series over at pharmacy podcast coming on residencies vs. fellowships and prepping for Midyear.  Here’s a mini quiz you can take if you’re not sure yourself as a P4 which way you should go! (Take it in Chrome – it doesn’t play nicely with Safari, for some reason…)

6. HBA Indiana – I’m running for President. (Not POTUS.) Instead, I’m running for HBA Indiana President for 2017.  It’s time for me to get back out there and understand what’s going on in healthcare at the state and regional levels, AND help other young and mid-career women make their career marks! It also fits into the fact that I’ve been tracking women at the helm of pharmacy and healthcare companies in the US, and we’re not making enough progress.  Also, I started a Health IT company list for Indiana – why oh why no one had a list before I find baffling.  This will take me some time to develop–but hey, at least it is started!

7. Midway on the fall Masterminds – have a sign up list for spring if you’ve been shopping for a writing or pharmacy career coach!

8. ASPL - pharmacy, meet law. Law, meet pharmacy.  The two meet up at the American Society for Pharmacy Law, which will meet up in Austin, TX in a couple of weeks.  Of all the career paths I’ve studied, THIS group has the weirdest and most out of the box careers I’ve seen to date.  Got my new book out on pharmacy law in IN, and have new talks coming up this fall on pharmacy law – yay!

9. Plotting 2017 –  Now that SXSW is off the table, I’m definitely thinking about the freaky meetings I can head to in 2017.  I’m thinking podcasting, blogging, social media, self publishing and maybe a few others….we’ll see.  Regardless, it’s good to have a plan for the coming year!

10. Other – I know what you’re thinking… “Hey, Albert – where’s the #STEMPrincess4 book?”  It’s still here, it’s just cued up for 2017.  I figured I needed to get a few books ahead of it finished before I dove full time into that project. Besides, I’m still shopping for a sponsor for book 4.  I can’t blow this series into the ginormous brand it could be alone! So, if you’re reading this and want to help out with #STEMPrincess series, hit me up via twitter or social.  And until 11/15/16, we’ve got the Myers and Stauffer Pharmaceutical Pricing Fellowship and APPE rotation applications up – come work with me next year and see all the magic!!!!!

That’s all I’ve got for right now. Much love to you out there – I hope you “fall” into an amazing…autumn!

Seeking 1 Amazing Sponsor for Our Amazing #STEMPrincess4 Adventure!

Thursday, September 29th, 2016

Screen Shot 2016-08-08 at 5.27.36 PMHi:

I’m cranking out STEM Princess 4, among other books right now.

But, I’m not going to sugar coat it–I’d like to find at least 1 good sponsor to help me out for a print run of this new book in the series.

Here’s the deal – I don’t want to run a crowdfunding campaign on it because I have to hand over 1/2 the money to the platform owners, and frankly, they’re a TON of work – I’d rather channel the energy into making a great book!

Straight up – here’s what you get if you sponsor the printing, and there’s two different levels of sponsorship:

$1000 sponsor – I need 5 total at this level.  The 5 sponsors would share a two page spread for logos and ads inside the book, and each sponsor at this level would get 100 copies of the book.

$5000 sponsor – you’re it.  The whole, sole sponsor of the book. You get a 2-page spread for your logo or we can work with you on how you’d like your company logo to be part of the book.  You also get 525 copies to do with what you like!

That’s it. It’s that simple…and this is my plea.  If you’re serious about sponsoring the NEXT generation of girls engaging in STEM, email me.

Now, I’m going back to writing some books!
